The Wedding Room (La Bohème)

VAIN Gallery, Seattle, 2003
Four hours

Two performers embrace beneath red wings drawn on a wall.

A Valentine’s Day performance where the ultimate tragic romance, La Bohème, was exploded using “” technique.

Crawling tragically through the street to the gallery dressed in wedding white, we began the performance with bloody knees. One hundred pencils were sharpened, one dozen white stuffed animals were destroyed to make a polyester nest, two gallons of red wine were drunk, and one pair of angel wings carried Mimi to her grave.
